Police Prevent Mob From Lynching ‘mentally Deranged’ Kidnapper In Ondo

Policen in Ondo town had a hectic time preventing an angry mob from lynching a man alleged to have kidnapped a school pupil around Odosida area of the city.

The irate mob had beaten to a pulp, the alleged kidnapper later identified as 54 year old Taiwo Ayinde, urging him to name his sponsors before policemen from Enu Owa Division led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Mr Express Omoigu rushed to the scene.

The policemen however rescued Ayinde after a thorough battle with the mob and subsequently transferred the case to the command’s headquarters in Akure.

The Ondo Police image maker, Femi Joseph confirmed that the alleged case of kidnapping is now with the command’s headquarters in Akure.

“The man was caught by some residents of the town for attempting to kidnap a little child in the area and in that process incured the people’s wrath who beat him to a pulp.”

“We have commenced investigation into the matter and the man has been moved down to our office here in Akure. Although his families, have also come forward to say he is a mentally challenged person, we have asked them to go bring related medical documents showing truly that he is sick” Joseph said.

He assured that the police will do justice to the matter
